About Me

My name is LIV. I am a black queer artist raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin.  In my artistic practice, I confront the social expectations placed upon black individuals to embody strength and resilience at all times, while also highlighting the profound vulnerability that lies beneath the surface.  I want Black strength to feel colorful, bold and loud.  I want the vulnerability to be seen on the surface of my work with many pieces having tears, multiple eyes, ears and noses.  Being present is the constant cycle of falling apart and picking yourself back up. My art work addresses exhaustion and also triumph within Blackness.
